2022 LBI Carolina Live (DAY 1)
Concord, NC – The second session of summer travel season has officially begun. Teams slowly but surely began to roll into Carolina Courts ready to pick up where they left off 2 weeks ago. Lining the baseline were college coaches, watching closely with pen and roster books in hand. The day started off with some competitive play and great competition.
DAY 1 STANDOUTS
Zaria Bell 2023 Team United - Calhoun
Zaria is not the type of player that can be ignored. Her presence on the court, especially in the paint, was a force that could not be contained. Once she was planted and positioned, that was it. There was no moving her. She used her footwork to score, and sometimes just flat-out bullied her way to score. At one point she literally had 3 players grabbing her arms and jersey…count the bucket and the foul. Zaria is special.
Halisi Whitley 2024 Lady Strong/Strong Center 2024
With a calm temperament and confidence on her face, Halisi set the nets on fire. Her shot is quick, smooth, and accurate. She knocked down deep shots from all over the court and some sweet short jump shots as well. She never forced a shot. She played within the flow of the offense and gave big buckets when they counted the most.
Candice Williams 2024 Carolina Lady Clutch
Candice was an energy source for her team. She is a work horse and gave 110% every possession. She hustles. Getting to the right spot at the right time to make the right play. On defense she showed that she can defend multiple positions and do it well. She played the lanes and created several transition opportunities for her team.
Reale Walton 2024 Mt. Luxor Lady Rockets
Reale is a floor leader. She is the start button that got her squad rolling. She has great court vision and made some nice plays to find the open man. She got inside for easy buckets or an easy pass to a wide-open teammate. She is strong and did a nice job of protecting the ball as she bulldozed her way to the rim, finishing strong and drawing the foul. At one point, Reale was responsible for almost half of her team’s points, either directly or indirectly.
Jerin Truesdale 2024 Team United - Tate
A little bit of this + a little bit of that = a whole lot of game from Jerin. She literally did it all. She battled inside getting rebounds and defending the paint. She made big defensive stops, going coast to coast and taking advantage of easy buckets. She has a solid frame and uses it to her advantage. Jerin dished out and took contact like it was nothing, steam rolling her way to the basket on a regular.
