LBI Unsigned Prospects Showcase - 2021 Notes

Nicole Gwynn 5’9”    Guard - Westersfield HS - West Hartford, CT
Gwynn was shooting lights out from three point range.  She can drive to the basket fighting through contact, and she has good vision on the court when getting the entry pass into her post players.  She showed an arsenal of moves when handling the ball including jab steps and hesitation moves.  She crashes the boards, too, looking for her own rebounds.

Natavia Taborn 5’2” Point Guard - Salisbury HS NC
Taborn was doing exactly what you want from a point guard controlling the tempo of the games.  She drew defenders to her as she penetrated the defense and would find some of her open teammates for her own assists.  She is tenacious on defense grabbing the ball and taking it the other direction for some fast break points.  She doesn’t hesitate going after rebounds as well.

Taylor Christmas  6’1 Power Forward Southwest Dekalb HS - Decatur, GA
Christmas would bring some power to any team with the way she dominates in the paint having her way moving opponents where she wants them to go when posting up.  She follows shots tracking the ball in order to get her rebounds.  She is patient when setting herself up to score, and she has a nice midrange jump shot that she can use to get some points, too.

Nahndi Smith 5’7”     Guard Asheville Christian Academy NC
Smith plays a lot bigger than her height shows.  She can drive the ball to the basket and score, or she can stay back to show off her jump shot.  She uses her vision of the court to find her open teammates, and her defense is stellar with the way she can pick the pocket of her opponents.  She handles the ball well with speed moving up and down the court.

Shania Bailey-Scott 5’6”    Guard Statesville HS NC
Bailey-Scott can handle the ball well under pressure.  She does a great job relocating without the ball finding the openings and even going after rebounds.  On defense, she uses her vision of the court to anticipate passes in order to grab steals.

Aysha Short     5’7” Guard Hickory Ridge HS NC
Short may be listed as a guard, but she did not shy away from guarding bigger post players using her length to get tall and her strength to not allow them the position they wanted in the paint.  She can even block shots.  On offense, she is certainly a shooter showing off her range from all over the court.

Jada Battle 5’7” Point Guard Southwest Edgecombe HS NC
Battle is a point guard who can certainly drive and dish the ball finding her open teammates.  She can take the ball all the way to the basket herself showing off a nice baseline cut ending in a reverse layup.  She has the mentality that every possession could be hers the way she goes after loose balls and fights for every rebound.

Cedaria Little 5’5”    Guard Ayden-Grifton HS NC
Little is a fast moving guard that pushes the ball up the court.  She has a nice shot from all over the court including behind the three point line.  She moves nicely without the ball making sure she is always findings ways to contribute.

Alexis Bynum 5’3”     Point Guard Mallard Creek HS NC
On defense, Bynum is sneaky with the way she can suddenly come up with a steal by knocking it away from her opponents or picking the pocket of other guards.  She has various ways of scoring like driving all the way to the basket fighting through contact, using a step back move, spin moves, or floaters.  She finds her open teammates as well and throws nice lob passes into her posts for them to score.

Jordan Durant 5’7” Guard Butler HS NC
Durant hustles on every play.  She had a nice block in transition hustling back on defense, and she is present on offensive fast break possessions to score.  She is an excellent ball handler blowing by her opponents, or she can settle back to show off her own shot from downtown.

Carleigh Perry 5’10” Forward Jesse Carson HS NC
Perry was impressive with the way she was going after rebounds.  She can score close to the basket, and her ball handling is good, especially when driving from the top of the key to the basket to score.  She does not shy away from contact when going hard to the basket.

Aliciah Fields 6’1”    Forward Northwest Cabarrus HS NC
Fields is everything you want in a small forward with the way she rebounds, blocks shots, and is there for second chance points on the offensive board.  She can handle the ball well, and she uses that with her footwork to score in the post.  She makes nice cuts to the defensive gaps to get open for her shot.

Adrianna Gullette 5’7” Guard Reagan HS NC
Gullette is a guard who is constantly moving on both ends of the court finding ways to jump into passing lanes to grab a steal or find the open areas of the court on offense.  She is speedy when handling the ball, too, blowing by her opponents.  She was very coachable making immediate adjustments with feedback in the middle of games.

Makiya McDaniel 5’10” Power Forward North Rowan HS NC
McDaniel is a force inside grabbing rebounds, and she uses those offensive rebounds for some second chance opportunities.  She shows some nice moves with her ball handling using spin moves and step backs to create separation for her to show off her jump shot.

Kaneycha Turner  5’10” Forward Statesville HS NC
Turner is a forward who does all the fundamentals correctly, and she is rewarded for that.  She boxes out with every shot, and she goes after the rebounds making sure she is the only one who has a chance to get it.  She fights for them on offense, too, using those as opportunities to get some points.

Deleasha Linebarger 5’8”     Guard Bunker Hill HS NC
Linebarger is an aggressive opponent playing right on her opponent and picking their pocket when she gets the chance.  She even drew a nice charge in a game showing her timing and IQ.  On offense, she drove against contact, and had a nice spin move before scoring.
