LBI March Madness kicked off the travel season for many organizations this year. Here are some of the top performers from the event.
Jada Brigman (Lady Attack Elite 2022 Gray) muscles her way in the paint scoring through contact and showing her persistence when it comes to grabbing rebounds. She runs the floor well, too, making sure she is available for some fast break points. She has a nice jump shot that she can show off. She made an amazing pass from the top of the key to the block showing her vision of the court. She finds the gaps in the defense looking for those passes herself, and she always seems to know where she needs to move on the court to score. She finished with 18 points in a game against a tough Team Carolina team.
Zakiyah Moss (Carolina Elite Hawks 2022) is a speedy guard moving from end to end and scoring through contact in transition. She had a nice stroke pulling up for a jump shot in transition. She follows shots, too, grabbing rebounds to give her team some other opportunities. Her ball handling opened up opportunities for herself and her teammates. She finished with 17 points.
Nadia Deal (Lady Attack Elite 2022 Purple) does a good job moving into the paint and scoring with nice footwork. She also has a nice jump shot she can use to score further away from the basket. She runs the floor well in transition making sure she is available for some fast break points. She can score three points from behind the arc as well as most areas of the court. On defense, she tracks the ball blocking shots. She finished with 11 points.
Evangelia Paulk (Team Carolina Harrell, 2023) knows how to grab a rebound and take it all the way to the other end for two points. She’s persistent grabbing offensive rebounds, too, for some second chance opportunities. She even blocked a shot, grabbed the steal, and made a layup as the time was running out to finish the first half. She might be able to play running back the way she can tuck the ball in to protect it when driving to the paint. She was doing it all for her team: grabbing rebounds, blocking shots, grabbing steals, and scoring in transition. She was the main reason her team had some fire lit under them as they started making a comeback. She finished with 15 points against Lady Attack Elite 2022 Gray.
Mia Xerras (Lady Attack Elite 2023 National George) came right out grabbing a steal and immediately pushed it up the court. She is always ready to show off her shot from behind the arc. She handles the ball well, too, pushing it up the court or waiting for a play to develop. She sees the entire floor even throwing perfect long passes up the court to a teammate making a break in transition. She somehow makes passes that go right between defenders hands finding their correct destination. She scores in transition herself fighting through contact. She finished with 17 points in her first game.
Cassidy Geddes (Lady Attack Elite 2023 National George) runs the floor well being available on fast breaks. She has a perfect stroke from behind the three point line, and she can score three points the old fashioned way fighting through contact in transition. She is a true ball handler too, using various moves to get by her opponents. Her defense is top notch as well knowing when to smack the ball away from guards trying to dribble by her. She is patient when letting a play develop knowing when to make the right pass. She finished with 22 points in her first game.
J’yana Salton (Charlotte Lady Monarchs 17U, 2023) has a wide variety of ball handling moves that she uses to create separation from her opponents to show off her jump shot. She can shoot from midrange and from downtown. She even showed off her strength powering opponents inside to post up on the block. She is a good rebounder following shots to take it to the other end of the court. She finished with 11 points in her first game.
Ashlee Shaw (Charlotte Dream Elite, 2024) is a great athlete who knows how to move her body with speed or even use some hesitation moves to throw off her defender. She handles the ball well pushing it up the court, and she can certainly shoot from anywhere. She does well with finding opponents on defense to strip the ball away making it difficult for them to get anything going. She is persistent when it comes to scoring driving through contact and following shots for offensive rebounds.
Sarah Strong (Strong Center 2024) can do it all on the basketball court. She can post up on the block, go after rebounds, and she can handle the ball away from the basket. She has her way anywhere in the paint, and she has a great IQ knowing exactly where to move her body to be effective. She even had a nice tap back on offense showing how quick she can make her good decisions. Her scoring isn’t only limited to the block as she can shoot from behind the arc. She can score three points the old fashioned way fighting through contact. She sees the floor well looking for her guards who are relocating after they give her the pass. She even had a nice basket that almost seemed like she shot it backwards, but it found its home through the hoop.
Blanca Thomas (Lady Attack Elite National 2024 Clark) tracks the ball well blocking shots. She moves into the perfect spots to get the entry pass and score. She uses her height to fight for rebounds, and she runs the floor well finding ways to sneak around her defenders to score in transition. She can score through contact as many players try to swat away her shot. She averaged double doubles over the weekend.
