The LBI Carolina Top 100 exposure event was the place to be if you were a top athlete in the Carolinas. Here is a breakdown of what these 2022 guards can offer.
Zoey Ward | Ashbrook High | CG
Ward had an arsenal of moves that she could do with the ball. From spin moves to speed, she was able to get by defenders with ease. When they did make it difficult, she fought through contact creating old fashioned three point plays. She consistently found herself in the right position to make plays on offense and defense.
Amore Kirkland | Seventy First High | PG
Kirkland was aggressive on defense preventing guards from getting by her and stripping the ball from them creating steals for herself. She was consistently contributing on fast break opportunities for her team whether she was the one grabbing the steal and pushing the ball up the court, or she was running the floor looking for a pass.
Anala Nelson | Lower Richland High | PG/SG
Using a jab step to create scoring opportunities, Nelson’s ball handling abilities were on display. She knew how to push the ball up the court well, especially after grabbing rebounds or creating steals herself. Her IQ was on display with the way she could anticipate what opponents were trying to do on their offensive possessions.
Indya Nivar | Apex Friendship High | G
Nivar was scoring all over the court, especially from behind the arc. She creates separation for her jump shot with a variety of moves. She was also helping her teammates score making amazing passes up the court that thread the needle between opponents and behind the back passes that were impossible to defend.
Alexis Sexton | Lexington High | PG/SG
Sexton does a great job of changing up her speed. She would make a fast break and be able to pull up quickly for a jump shot. She also moved her body well to make effective passes to her teammates. She can drive down the middle of the paint for a lay up or a jump shot and showed no fear of upcoming contact. On defense, she jumped into passing lanes and followed shots grabbing rebounds.
McKenna Snively | Northwood High | SG
Snively was effective at moving to the right areas of the court on offense in order to create plays. She was constantly jumping into the gaps on defense looking for a pass, or she would dribble the ball past opponents into open areas. She translated this well to her defense always being in the right place to end the possession for her opponents.
Trinity Smith | Whiteville High | PG/SG
Smith knows the importance of timing when trying to make things happen on offense. She was constantly making the best cuts without the ball in anticipation of getting the pass and showing off her shot. She can also handle the ball well, and she makes amazing passes that seem to thread the needle even on fast breaks.
Taylor Henderson | Winston Salem Christian | G
Henderson was an efficient shooter from all over the court. She showed off a step back jump shot that was very difficult to defend. She had some nice assists as well, especially when moving quickly on fast breaks. On defense, she did a great job of tracking the ball creating blocks and grabbing rebounds to start her offensive possession again.
Tyra Myers | Hammond School | PG
Myers can be defined as a heads up player. She always has her head up handling the ball looking for her open teammates. She also seems to be a step ahead of opponents grabbing steals from other teams or creating shots for herself, especially from behind the arc. She even hustles after rebounds and loose balls.
Nykeriasia Coleman | Lancaster High | PG/W
Coleman is already an effective floor general pushing the ball up the court and blowing by defenders. She has a great shot herself that she knows how to put on display by creating separation from her opponent. When she wasn’t handing the ball, she was finding the best position for her to be in to find ways to contribute.
Saniya Wilson | Kings Mountain High | PG
Wilson is a true floor general that knows how to push the ball and be effective with every movement she makes. She has some nice spin moves, and she uses her speed to create separation between her and her opponents. She showed great vision on the court and used that on defense as well to create steals turning those quickly into fast breaks herself.
