The LBI Carolina Top 100 exposure event was the place to be if you were a top athlete in the Carolinas. Here is a breakdown of what these 2024 guards can offer.
Jayda Angel | McWilliams Middle | PG
Angel has the moves that you want from a young guard because she knows how to create separation between her and a defender to make a shot or make a great pass to her teammate. She used jab steps, spin moves, and step backs to get herself open for shots proving that she can handle the ball and shoot well from all over the court.
Samantha Myers | Northwest Cabarrus High | SG
Myers is a very active player who constantly moved on offense. She relocated herself moving along the baseline cutting in and out of the defensive gaps in order to set herself up to show off her shot. On defense, she had her head on a swivel always knowing where she was needed to contribute on that end of the court.
Kelsie Robitaille | Marvin Ridge | G/F
Robitaille was a true shooter from behind the arc. She didn’t hesitate driving inside and working through contact. She handled the ball well, too, showing that she can create plays or be ready to shoot once she gets the pass.
Korin Gladden | Jack Britt High | G
Gladden has speed on her side with the way she can blow by her opponents. She was aggressive with her ball handling driving inside and breaking through the gaps of opposing defenses. She showed that she can drive inside or stop for a floater or jump shot making her a threat from all over the court.
Jazlyn Harris | Hopewell High | PG
Harris was such a smooth ball handler showing that she can show off these kind of skills no matter who she is playing. She pushed the ball up the court even after grabbing the rebound herself and turning that into a fast break. Additionally, she has a great shot from behind the arc.
Caroline King | Weddington High | PG
Keeping her eyes up and constantly thinking ahead, King showed that she is a true point guard. She repositions herself to make sure she can get the best pass into her teammate, especially her post players. She even contributes rebounds for her team and tracks the ball well on defense.
Olivia Jacobs | Garner Magnet High | G
Jacobs showed a variety of moves with the ball making her difficult to defend. In her arsenal, she had spin moves, crossovers, and speed that she used to score. She was aggressive with the ball, and she showed that she can certainly push the ball up the court.
Sarah Strong | Fuquay Varina High | All
Strong knows how to use her size, but she can certainly play all five positions on the court. She used her height to grab rebounds and make some blocks. She knows how to post up underneath, and she can shoot from downtown. She handled the ball well, too, kicking it to her teammates on some fast breaks. Additionally, she had some great pass and cut plays knowing exactly where to find the gaps in defenses.
Trinity Vance | Legacy Early College | PG
Vance continues to show she is one of the top players in South Carolina. She can handle the ball well and moves fluidly with it making her seem so much older than she is. Her IQ is phenomenal knowing when to show off her great shot or set up her teammate to score. On defense, she creates offensive possessions with her steals, and she is a terror when she implements a full court press.
Raina McGowens | Wren High | G
McGowens’ ability to track the ball on defense shows how she can use her basketball IQ on both ends of the court creating steals and even blocks for her team. She can handle the ball well, and she knows where to move on the court to make contributions for her team whether she is driving with the ball, passing to her teammate, or showing off her shot.
Delanie Hill | Providence High | PG/CG
Hill sees the floor very well and knows exactly where to move herself or move the ball. She can score the ball herself, or she can find the open teammate. She has some good handles with the ball that creates separation for her shot.
Kaylee Carson | Independence High | SG
Carson creates offensive possessions regularly with her steals. She pushes the ball up the court blowing by defenders on fast breaks. She has a nice crossover move that she uses to get by defenders, and she can show off her shot from all over the court.
Olivia Tucker | Durham School of the Arts | G
Tucker is another guard who creates her own offense by being a terror on defense. Her steals quickly turn into fast breaks. She was always ready to show off her great shot as well.
Olivia Burke | Porter Ridge High | G
Burke is a fluid ball handler moving well by opponents and getting her teammates involved. She had a nice one handed layup on a fast break protecting the ball the whole way. She can also shoot from behind the arc making her an all around threat.
Isabella Roman | Cardinal Gibbons | PG/SG
Roman’s ability to see the court showed that she can do it all with or without the ball. She pushed the ball up the court and drove to the basket against contact. She knew where to go with the ball, and she even followed shots grabbing rebounds. On defense, she jumped into passing lanes causing turnovers for her opponents.
Janna Tupuola | EE Smith High | PG
With her smart moves, Tupuola showed she knows exactly when to use her ball handling as a weapon to create some offensive plays. For example, she had a nice crossover move to create separation and show off her jump shot. She was a threat from behind the arc, too.
Alex Bennon | Legacy Early College | PG
Bennon had some excellent defense over the weekend showing she could anticipate what they were going to try to do and found herself grabbing the steal. These steals turned into fast break opportunities. In set offenses, she showed that her speed wasn’t her only weapon because she had a nice crossover move to blow by her defender for an easy lay up.
Jasmine Harris | Northern Guilford High | G
Harris is someone who can do a little bit of everything with the ball. She will blow by opponents, cross them up, or do a great hesitation move to create separation. She sees the floor well getting her teammates involved, and she can certainly score from all over the court herself. She is a terror on defense using her speed to stop guards from getting by her.
