Team Curry was dominant at LBI Carolina Live winning the 15U division. Each game they played seemed to have different contributors showing everyone that this team is full of next level athletes.
Trinity Mathis (2023) uses all of her 6’ frame to dominate the block in every game that she plays. She did a great job positioning herself on offense to make the most effective play. She was very effective at passing the ball to a guard, repositioning herself, and making a score when she got the entry pass. On defense, she frequently uses her voice to talk to her teammates about where the opponents are moving. When standing in the paint, it is common to see her have multiple blocks each game.
Zoe Henderson (2023) stands at 5’11” and can essentially do it all for Team Curry. She can bully opponents around in the paint, or she can set herself up for a jump shot outside. She can handle the ball well, too, pushing it up the court for fast breaks and using smart passes to get her teammates involved. She did not shy away from contact using those opportunities to make some old fashioned three point plays.
Kayla Decker (2023) is a lockdown defender, and teams should be scared when she sets up to press them. She makes several steals while pressing and turns these into crucial points for her team. Her ability to track the ball can be seen when she makes blocks on defense. On offense, she can shoot from all over the court, and she hit several clutch shots as Team Curry was trying to pull away in their games this weekend. She uses a nice Euro step to make a play driving in the lane.
Controlling the ball for most of the time, Dearia Page (2023) uses her quickness to sneak by opponents. She can drive the ball no matter what kind of contact may be waiting for her under the basket. When she didn’t have the ball, she was able to relocate in order to contribute for her team finding the gaps in the opponents’ defense. Her defense was great to watch as well because she was able to pop the ball out from under a guard’s hands when trying to dribble by her.
Haley Dalton (2023) was very effective on the block over the weekend. She was constantly repositioning herself on defense to make sure she was in the best position to prevent her opponent from scoring. Her aggressive rebounds frequently turned into second chance opportunities for her, and she was able to convert on three point plays from the free throw line.
Amiyah Ferguson’s (2023) ability to shoot from behind the arc was on display all weekend including her game winning three pointer in the 15U championship game on Sunday. She was an aggressive defender on the other end of the court creating steals and new possessions for her team.
Ariana Perry (2023) was another great shooter over the weekend consistently hitting jump shots all over the court. She was effective behind the arc, and she was always ready to shoot. No matter where she was on the court, she would dive on the floor for loose balls showing her hustle mentality and passion for the game.
Kairah Dixon-Booker (2023) showed some sparks with her post moves inside. When receiving the entry pass from her teammates, she knew exactly how to move to be effective with the ball. She translated this knowledge well on defense preventing others from scoring against her. Don’t be surprised to see her convert a steal to a fast break herself pushing the ball up the court.
One of the younger athletes is Maya McCorkle (2024) who had some nice moves that left the defenders confused. She is an excellent ball handler controlling the tempo for Team Curry frequently. She was patient with her passes knowing the best time to make them in order to get her teammates involved. She constantly kept her eyes peeled on offense and defense making her an asset on both ends of the court.
It is hard to believe that Aubrey Stevenson (2025) is younger than the girls that she is competing against because her IQ is certainly at their level if not above. She is very speedy with the ball pushing it up the court. She has frequent fast break opportunities, especially from steals that she grabs herself. Her vision of the court is amazing to watch with how she knows where to go with the ball threading the needle with her passes multiple times. She can jump into passing lanes when playing defense as if she knows exactly what the offense is trying to achieve. This girl has a bright future ahead of her.
