Charlotte Dream Elite continues to develop some next level athletes in their program. Here are some athletes from their high school age groups that showed their capabilities to continue playing after their high school careers.

Josie Hester (2021) is ready and fully capable of playing at the next level with the way that she can move with the ball and shoot from all over the court. She has a great vision of the court as well making smart passes into her teammates. She isn’t scared to drive inside against contact. On defense, she is always causing problems for opponents stealing the ball from guards trying to dribble by her or jumping into passing lanes. She is quick, too, making it difficult for other teams to try to get a fast break going because she knows how to track the ball and make a stellar block.

A player that makes her presence known inside is Taylor Thomas (2021). She makes it difficult for any opponent to make a play in the paint with her ability to block shots. She contributes rebounds for her team, and she uses her length to grab passes. These steals quickly turn into fast breaks because she always knows where to get the ball to her teammates in order to push it up the court.

A fun guard to watch from the wing is Emerie Tillmon (2021). She does an amazing job blowing by her defenders or creating space between her opponent to make a jump shot. She can certainly push the ball up the court herself after she is grabbing rebounds and making steals to change the possession. She shows off her speed on both ends of the court.

Ashley Farmer (2022) is already a true floor general that controls the tempo of the game. She makes amazing passes into her teammates getting everyone involved. From the stands, it is amazing to watch how she sees plays develop and knows where to move with the ball before you realize what she is thinking. When she is not handling the ball, she does a great job finding the gaps in the defense and constantly relocating, so she can be an asset all over the court. She does not shy away from driving against contact to get her own points.

Standing at 5’11,” Ionna Gianopoulou (2022) can make contributions all over the court. She grabbed some nice rebounds, and she used her length to cause problems on defense. She was aggressive driving the ball and working her post moves inside even finding herself making some old fashioned three point plays.

Imelda McMenamin (2022) is a true shooter from all over the court, but she seems to be deadly when she gets her shot up behind the arc. She is constantly ready to shoot, but she also keeps her eyes peeled for her open teammates. She is known to create her own steals turning those into fast breaks where she can finish the basket herself, or she finds her open teammate for a pass even while moving quickly up the court.

Jacquelyn DeJesse (2022) is very fast and uses that to her full advantage when pressing opponents. She is an excellent defender jumping in front of passes or stealing the ball from guards while they are trying to dribble. That speed translates well to the other end of the court when she is blowing by defenders with the ball or finding ways to make nice cuts to grab a pass herself for the score.

Zion Duncan (2023) is a dominant post player battling against older players with ease. She uses her strength and footwork to position herself perfectly moving from block to block finding the open areas. Once she gets the ball, she shows off her post moves to make the basket. She is aggressive with grabbing rebounds as well setting herself up for some second chance points on offense or to push the ball up the floor when she grabs a rebound on defense. She shows some good leadership as well using her position on defense to talk to her teammates about where other players are moving.

From the younger group of girls, Ashlee Shaw (2024) shows a lot of promise as she begins her high school career. It is common to see her score double digits, and she consistently has a handful of assists. She does an excellent job of reading the defense knowing where she can drive in the lane, create separation for a jump shot, or make a pass to her teammate for the score. This young athlete has a bright future in front of her.

Mackenzie Maggs (2024) is already an excellent shooter from behind the arc. She knows how to create space for herself in order to show off this shot, but she is not scared to go up for some contested shots.

LaTayshia Andrews (2024) is a sneaky guard who handles the ball very well no matter who is guarding her. Opponents seem to have a lot of trouble keeping up with her making it seem easy as she weaves in and out of them on fast breaks for some transition points. She makes some smart passes to her teammates and times them very well. When she isn’t controlling the ball, she is constantly moving finding the open areas of the court where she can contribute.

Grace Borrego (2024) shows some streaks as well being able to drive into the middle. She doesn’t shy away from contact, and she times her moves perfectly to make the most impact.
